Welcome VINITALY 2018

12 April 2018 - News, Wine

Dear Reader,

if you are in Verona between next 15th and 18th of April or you are planning to visit our beloved city this article is for you.

Let me introduce you Verona.

General ideas

Today Verona is in a strategic location, close to three areas known for wine production: red wine in Valpolicella Land, that literally means land of many cellars, and white wine in Soave and Custoza areas.

If you never heard about Vinitaly, probably you are wondering what Vinitaly is.

It is the world’s very first wine fair, that takes place every April in the city of Verona.

Vinitaly is the event that more than any other has marked the evolution of the wine system on a national and international scale, helping to make wine one of the most exciting and dynamic realities in the primary sector.

When and where it started

In 1967 on the 22nd -23rd September, Palazzo della Gran Guardia hosted Italian Wine Days. This was effectively the official debut of Vinitaly.

This year, 2018, this event celebrates its 52nd edition it’s a seasonal appointment that you can’t miss.

Over the years, Vinitaly grew immensely and it is today the world’s largest wine fair.

Vinitaly is dedicated to Italian wines. If you are looking for wine from other countries then you might get disappointed.

You will find all the Italian regions, from the north to the south, divided in different stands and every region has its wineries. You will imagine travelling around Italy by the action of exploring different stands and tasting the best Italian wines.

Vinitaly is not a trade fair. Exhibitors are not allowed to sell products to visitors and there are strict controls. This has many advantages: first of all, exhibitors do not pressure you to buy a bottle after you tried their wine and then exhibitors offer you to taste their best wines.

Verona is World Heritage Site by Unesco, in fact we consider our city like an open-air museum.

This cultural manifestation involves all the city, creating events in the historical center, for example like wine tastings and cooking shows, during few days Verona lives a crowded atmosphere, it’s a sort of no stop party.

Literally it’s a unique event where wine and food, art and music, gathering and entertainment are in the same place and at the same hour, to create an experience you will never forget.

Spending half a day in Wine Exhibition is like a full immersion in wine world and wine tasting, in fact we know you will be able to find all the best wineries.

As you can imagine, book a hotel is a bit difficult in the last minute, because people all over the world decide to visit Verona especially during this event.

We suggest you, if you spend more days in Verona to visit Valpolicella, in this way you will see how wine is produced in wineries, a Valpolicella day tour, is the best way to get in touch with winemakers and enologists.

The background, where this fair is set, is Verona Province, one of the biggest wine producer and its cultural and historical connection with wine tradition belongs since roman times.

The city of Verona celebrates this particular event in all kind of way, it’s always a good idea to visit the city during international moments.

You can enjoy your time in the visit of the fair and exploring the city in a walking food and wine tour, tasting or exploring by real the wineries where Veronese wines are produced, like in Custoza and Soave.
